Nigerian cinema goers expectations seem to have risen following the release of Kemi Adetiba’s Political Thriller “King Of Boys” which has reportedly grossed #200million in box office since it’s release and stands as the number one longest running film in the Nigerian cinema.
The Christmas festivity is upon us and movie fans in Nigeria have shown anticipation for movies they are likely to watch during their long holiday.
We have compiled a list of three most talked about and anticipated nollywood cinema films for this December.
In no particular order:
– Chief Daddy: Coming from the producers of Nollywood’s highest grossing box office film, “The Wedding Party” franchise, the anticipation for Ebony Life’s new star studded Family Comedy drama “Chief Daddy” is quite high.
“Chief Daddy” tells the story of billionaire industrialist Chief Beecroft, a flamboyant benefactor to a large extended family of relatives, household staff and assorted mistresses.”
Though the movie has a similar terrain to a number of other family reunion films, audience still can’t wait to see what dynamic is added to the movie or is it safe to say ‘it is because the film is a cluster of their favourite celebrities?’
The movie stars Joke Silva, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwor, Funke Akindele, Zainab Balogun, Ini Edo, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Kate Henshaw, Falz, Beverly Naya, Rachel Oniga, Beverly Osu and many others.
Chief Daddy will be showing in the cinemas from December 14th.
– Up North: Tope Oshin’s “Up North” is another highly anticipated film to be released this December.
The Northern themed film which was shot in Lagos and Bauchi, explores love, friendship and family politics, all of which collide, creating memories to last a lifetime. It tells the story of a young rebellious heir whose NYSC year doesn’t go quite as planned.
The movie stars Kanayo O Kanayo, Banky Wellington, Adesu Wellington, Rahama Sadau, Rekiya Atta, T-Boss, Ibrahim Suleiman and many others.
Up North will be in the cinemas from December 28th.
– God Calling: The trailer for BB Sasore’s God Calling got many social media fans drooling over the well served appetizer. Many called it ‘a timely film that goes with the season.’
Cinema goers can’t wait to see what the ‘Banana Island Ghost’ director has in the waiting.
BB Sasore described the film as “a faith based Christmas blockbuster film.”
God Calling will be showing in cinemas across Nigeria from December 21st.
