Malawian actress, Flora Suya has a new project coming and has partnered with Nigerian producer, Michael Obiazi to make it a reality.
The film whose shoot is set to commence November this year will tell the story of the struggles encountered by a girl child to achieve her dreams.
The producer, Michael Obiazi is a graduate of the New York Film Academy and has written and directed some remarkable works. Some of his projects include “Apparently”, “Maybe CD”, “Divert Lea” and has had his projects screened in festivals.
At a press conference hosted by Flora Suya and Michael Obiazi last week, the filmmakers revealed that the story will be a Malawian story through and through and is based on a real life encounter that Michael met at an international conference in the USA.
Flora Suya whose film, “My Mother’s Story” got an AMAA nomination alongside Nigeria’s Onyeka Nwelue, Kenya’s Njue Kevin, and South Africa’s Michael Matthews for the Best First Feature Film By a Director award also revealed that eighty percent of the cast would be Malawians.
Flora Suya has been nominated twice in the Best Actress category at the AMA Awards. Some of her most popular projects include “Seasons of a Life”, “The Last Fishing Boat”, “My Mother’s Story”, amongst others.
