The Pan-African film and television festival (Fespaco) has informed professionals of the film and audio-visual industry that registration for the selection of films as part of the 26th edition of FESPACO, due from 23rd February to 2nd March 2019, is open.
According to the organizers, the selection covers two main sections: The Official competition section, which is for films by African and Diaspora directors and includes the following categories: Fictional feature film (60 mn minimum), Fictional short film (between 1mn and 35 mn).
Others are Feature documentary (60 mn minimum), Short documentary (between 1 mn and 35 mn), and Fictional or documentary films by African cinema schools (between 3 mn and 15 mn).
The second section, The African TV series competition, will take place as part of a special event “La nuit de la Série africaine” (The African Series Night) organized by FESPACO in partnership with producers and broadcasters.
Filmmakers have been advised not to submit films that would be more than two (2) years on 31 December 2018 or had been shown at a previous edition of FESPACO, as they would not been considered.
The Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (Festival panafricain du cinéma et de la télévision de Ouagadougou or FESPACO) is a film festival in Burkina Faso, held biennially in Ouagadougou, where the organization is based. It accepts for competition only films by African filmmakers and chiefly produced in Africa.
