Ugandan short film, “Kyenvu”, directed by Kemiyondo Coutinho and Nigerian feature film, “Isoken”, will both be screened at the ongoing Bronzelens Film Festival holding from 22-26 August, 2018.
“Isoken” is a 2017 romantic comedy written, produced and directed by Jadesola Osiberu and stars Dakore Akande, Joseph Benjamin, and Marc Rhys.
“Isoken” premiered on 16th June, 2017 at the Landmark event center, Victoria Island, Lagos. The movie is one of the creative industry projects under the NollyFund loan scheme supported by Nigeria’s Bank of Industry.
“Kyenvu” is a 2018 Ugandan short film produced and directed by Kemiyondo Coutinho, who also is the lead character. Others cast in the movie include Michael Wawuyo Jr., Rehema Nanfuka, Joel Okuyo Atiku, Alex Bwanika and others.
The short film shows an independent young woman living through the hellish taunts of using public transport on a regular basis. As she struggles to find her footing and place in a deeply patriarchal society that entitles men to women’s bodies, she finds love in a bitter sweet circumstance.
“Kyenvu” is Kemiyondo Coutinho’s directorial debut and won the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF)’s Best Narrative Short Film as well as an award at the Zanzibar International Film Festival and stands a chance of winning again at the Bronzelens Film Festival.
