After its first round was recorded as a success, the second edition of the El-Gouna Film Festival has been announced to kick off on September, 20, 2018.
Making the announcement in a press release, the founding committee of El-Gouna Film Festival indicated the festival will run from 20 September to 28 of the same month. Venue has been slated to be in Egypt’s El-Gouna resort town, situated near Hurghada in the Red Sea governorate.
“The exceptional success of the first edition of El-Gouna Film Festival has reinforced our confidence, and we hope that the next edition will bear all the factors that contributed to that success,” remarked the founding and executive committee of the El-Gouna Film Festival.
The festival, founded by Egyptian brothers Naguib and Samih Sawiris, seeks to showcase and demonstrated the resilience and growth of the Egyptian cultural music scene.
It kicked off with the sole aim of creating a common platform among young artists in the Middle East and their international counterparts.
A total of seventy-four films from 42 countries were featured in the first edition, themed “Cinema for Humanity”. Hollywood stars such as Forrest Whitaker, Vanessa Williams, and Oliver Stone graced the closing ceremony of the first round.
