The 20th edition of The Zimbabwe International Film Festival (ZIFF) will kick off in Harare from the 1st to the 8th of September, 2018.
With the theme of Narratives From Africa, this year’s festival is billed to screen a horde of movies germane to the theme in partnership with local sponsors, foreign embassies and overseas independent filmmakers.
Festival Director, Nakai Matema, in a media chat with newsmen, says this year’s film festival will beam the searchlight on both Zimbabwean and African films in a bid to showcase the African movie culture to the wider world.
‘We are exclusively focusing on stories on the African experience from the continent and beyond because it is high time for us to celebrate and harness our own culture, heritage and history ourselves as Africa’s place begins to take center stage on the global stage’, she remarked.
Matema also appealed to upcoming Zimbabwean filmmakers and producers to also explore the idea of African narratives in their projects.
The Film Forum will showcase a pulsating industry program lineup that features workshops, seminars, discussion sessions, pitch sessions and collaborations among industry stakeholders.
