Following her nomination in the Best Actress Category in a Comedy and TV series at the 2018 AMVCA, Auntie Boss star, Nyce Wanjeri, popularly known for her role as Shiru in local TV show “Auntie Boss”, shed tears.
Nyce Wanjeri is one of Ghana’s finest whose house girl character in “Auntie Boss” has drawn public enthusiasm. According to the actress, when she heard the news of her nomination for the Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards (AMVCA), she was overwhelmed and wept for joy.
Nyce Wanjeri was nominated among industry heavyweights such as Rita Dominic, Adesua Etomi, Queen Nwokoye, Bimbo Ademoye, Dakore Akande.
Sharing, the actress said: “I cried when I heard I had been nominated. This is a big deal for me. I never thought I would have been nominated for the best actress in series/comedy. I have been nominated with other big names in Nollywood. Let’s vote and bring this award back home”.
The actress also spoke out on the problems she faces in her career, one of which was the incessant sexual advances from producers and directors towards actresses. She mentioned that both upcoming and top actresses face similar situations in the industry.
“There are those who are like that, like if I don’t get you to bed, then you won’t have the job. It doesn’t make sense to me. Everyone that I work with knows very well that I have set standards and boundaries in my life,” she said.
Despite these issues, she sees this nomination as a gear towards attaining greater heights her career.
