Rwandan actress, Denise Gakire is set to feature in Nollywood veteran, Andy Boyo’s new film, Fugitive United States of Africa alongside one of the most prominent Nollywood actors, Daniel K Daniel and other familiar faces from the Ugandan and Zambian film industries.
Speaking about the much anticipated movie, which was shot in Nigeria, Gakire in an interview with The New Times said that it was a great opportunity for her as it is going to improve her acting skills. “I am so glad that I was able to represent our own film industry in the biggest film industry in Africa.” She added.
Gakire began her acting career in 2012 and had since featured in several local films such as such as ‘Inkomoko y’ishyano,’ ‘Sakabaka’ and local TV drama series ‘City Maid.’ In 2016, she won the ‘Best Actress’ Award at the Rwandan Movie Awards, which she says opened new doors for her.
Her co-star, Daniel, is best known as Bossman in a Nigerian war thriller, “A Soldier’s Story.”
‘Fugitive United States of Africa’ started production on April 4 and will premier in Nigeria in
September before it is screened in Kigali in the same month.
