Sudanese-South African film, “Beats of the Antonov” will on Wednesday be screened at Netherlands-flemish Institute in Cairo Cinema.

The film which was written and directed by Hajooj Kuka looks at the impact of the civil war in Sudan between northern citizens and southern tribes and examines how displaced families use cultural music and their native dance to ease the pain of loss.

“Beats of Antonov” participated in various festivals in 2014 and 2015 such as Luxor African Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, and San Francisco International Film Festival and won the Grand Nile Prize for Best Documentary at Luxor African Film Festival, and the Best Documentary Award and Arterial Network’s Artwatch Africa Award for Freedom of Expression at Durban International Film Festival.
